Fat Lip
Privacy
Last updated October 19, 2026
The short version.
- You can play without an account and without giving a name. Nothing is locked behind signing in.
- If you choose to sign in with Google, the game keeps your email address, the display name you type and your game record. It never sees your password, and you can delete your account yourself at any time.
- The game keeps what it needs to run: your saved games, the names typed into a game, and a rough idea of where and on what kind of device it is being played.
- Your information is not sold.
- The site may show ads from Google. Google uses cookies for that; how to turn off personalized ads is explained below.
Who runs this
Fat Lip (playfatlip.com) is an independent game, made and run by one person, Jordan. To reach him, use Contact Developer on the game's menu or write to [email protected].
What is kept in your browser
The game stores a few things on your own device, in your browser's storage for this site:
- a random ID, so the game recognizes your browser when you come back, can put you back in a match after a lost connection, and can find your saved games;
- the name you last typed, your settings (sound, board, computer level), and a copy of a single player or pass n play game in progress;
- small notes such as whether you have already been offered the tutorial, and, if you signed in, the display name of your account and the dice, marbles and board you picked (so they still show with no connection; never your email address);
- a copy of the game itself, so it still opens with no connection, and the results of games you finish while offline, until they can be sent.
Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it. The game will then treat you as a new visitor.
What the game's server keeps
- Saved games. Up to five per browser, kept for 90 days. If you are signed in, they are also listed on your other signed-in devices.
- A record of games played. The names typed into a game, who won, the settings, the list of moves, and when it was played. Kept for about 90 days. This is how problems get found and fixed.
- Roughly where you are. The town or region your connection appears to come from, and your kind of device (for example "iPhone" or "Windows computer").
- Problem reports. If the game hits an error or loses its connection, your browser sends a short technical report (what went wrong, the game version, your kind of device).
- Ratings and feedback you choose to give after a game.
- Messages you send through Contact Developer: the name you typed, your message, and your email address only if you ask for a reply. These are kept until the developer deletes them.
- Simple counts, such as how many people started the tutorial.
Your IP address (the number that identifies your internet connection) is used to work out the town or region above and to limit abuse. It is not saved to the game's records; only a scrambled, one-way version is kept, which cannot be turned back into the address.
Chat in an online match is kept only while that match is running, so players who reconnect can see it. It is not saved afterwards.
Watching games. The developer can look in on a game in progress to investigate a problem or keep play fair. Match chat is not shown when he does.
Signing in with Google (optional)
Signing in is a choice. Every way of playing works as a guest. If you do sign in, Google confirms to the game which Google account is yours and tells it your email address. Google also sends your name and profile picture; the game does not keep either one. The game never sees your Google password.
For an account, the server keeps:
- your email address, shown to you on your account page, and to the developer on the game's private dashboard, so he can answer you, find your account if you write in about it, and delete it when asked. It is never shown to other players and is not used for newsletters or marketing;
- the display name you type, which is the name other players see. It is never taken from Google;
- a scrambled, one-way version of your Google account number, so the same Google account finds the same Fat Lip account. The number itself is not kept;
- which of your browsers are signed in, as a scrambled version of the random ID described above;
- your record: games played, wins and losses, marbles knocked home, your rolls, your longest game and when you last played. It counts single player and online games you finish;
- your Badge Book: which badges you have earned and when, the counts behind them (single player games, wins, marbles knocked home and brought home, shortcuts, sixes, revenges, wins against the harder computers, team wins and the days you played), and the title, dice and marbles you chose. In online games other players see the title next to your name, your dice and your marbles.
This is kept until you delete your account. Delete my account, on your account page, erases the account, the email address, the record and the Badge Book straight away, and signs out every device. Games you played stay in the 90-day record of games described above, under the name typed into the game, with nothing linking them to your email address.
Other companies involved
Running a website means a few other services see your connection:
- Cloudflare carries all traffic between you and the game.
- Google Fonts supplies a typeface the game uses, so your browser requests it from Google.
- A location lookup service (ip-api.com) may be asked which town an IP address belongs to, when Cloudflare has not already said.
- Resend delivers Contact Developer messages to the developer's inbox.
- Google Sign-In, only if you open the sign-in box: your browser loads Google's sign-in button from Google, which may set a small cookie of its own, and Google handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy.
Ads
Fat Lip may show ads served by Google AdSense. When it does:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site or to other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and to other sites on the internet.
- You can turn off personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalized ads at aboutads.info.
- More on how Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The game itself does not pass your name, your games or your messages to advertisers, and your information is not sold.
Children
Fat Lip is a game for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from them. Signing in is for people 13 and older. Please leave an email address in Contact Developer only if you are 13 or older. If you believe a child has sent personal information, write to the address above and it will be deleted.
Your choices
- Play without typing a name, or type any name you like.
- Clear this site's data in your browser to remove what is stored on your device.
- Play as a guest: signing in is never required.
- If you signed in, delete your account yourself from your account page. It takes effect at once.
- Ask for your information to be deleted: write to [email protected] with the name you played under and roughly when. For a guest, that is how your games are found.
